Things to Note & Other Potential Concerns

Things To Note:
Didymo cells can survive and remain viable in cool, damp, dark conditions for at least 40 days.

Thorough cleaning of equipment is our best defense against the spread of unwanted organisms.

Other Potential Concerns:

Myxobolus cerebralis, a parasite that causes whirling disease in trout & salmon could easily be brought up from Montana, Colorado and other lower 48 states where it has devastated trout populations. Because it and other invasive organisms are easily transported via felt wading shoes, felt-soled boots are now banned for anglers in all fresh waters of Alaska...and that includes Alaskans.
